Lately I have been chatting with a lot of people about Social Media. I vacillate greatly between feeling like I know nothing and feeling like I am pretty adept. I can get pretty overwhelmed when new channels and tools pop up seemingly as soon as I think I have mastered one. I was thinking about this the other day when Pink Floyd came on. It got me to look at all of these tools as bricks in a wall and perhaps we DO need some education. I may not be the best bricklayer, but I am working to build a pretty sturdy knowledge base. But I had an incredible sense of relief when I thought of all of the amazing people and resources that are available when you move in these social media channels. For every new tool (i.e. posterous) there are tutorials, blogs, tweets and friendly people out there to help you embrace it and use it for your own needs and benefits.
SO my Pink Floyd lesson for the day is to not be afraid…all in all it’s just another brick in the wall and we don’t need no education (in the formal sense); we just need each other!
